chemicals usually don't discriminate between types, or layers of paint.
while the top layer will peel right off, it will cause damage to the next layer at the same time.

unfortunately, the color layer is not very thick, and I have never had any luck trying to sand off the clearcoat without also sanding through the color coat. so, the reality is that you need to repaint the various panels where the clear is coming off.

Thanks all, well, that means that she'll have a mottled hood for a while cause I am ill prepared to say the least to do body work, painting and the like. Maybe I'll just check with a shop about the cost of just doing the hood, that's the only place really, There a a few very minor dings on the body but like being bald, I don't have to look at it when I'm driving, it's just that initial impression when I walk up to the car, but it'll have to wait a while. Maybe I'll get in touch with the community college here. They sometimes look for car work for their students to practice/learn on and ya probably couldn't mess up too much just sanding and painting a big flat surface like a hood. Also it turns out, number three...she needs a name...has a grey interior, I thought the pics were just dark and didn't realize that they mixed interiors. I just thought that a green outside meant a mocha interior, No, problem really, It is in very good shape, a good cleaning will put it right. One small tear on passenger frnt seat, but not a big worry right now.
