Here what I did from start to finish.
1. Disconnected battery, took off ducting and MAF to get to ECT sensor. Took ECT sensor off, spilt some coolant, put new ECT sensor in and tightened. Reconnected ECT plug.

2. Took of AIB valve off. Cleaned thoroughly and cleaned alittle into the intake where it attached too. Made sure everything was dry and put back together. Reconnected plug.

3. Put everything back together. Reconnect MAF sensor and then reconnected the battery.

I went to start and all it would do was crank over. I made the mistake of giveing it gas and I'm sure I flooded it cause I smelt gas when I went to check my connections again. Sorry, everything I drove before this was had a carb on it. *smacks forhead*

I'm sure I'm gonna have to take the AIB valve off again cause some of the stuff on the gasket was flakeing off. Just around the edges though. I will replace it when and if I can get a gasket tomorrow.

The car has run great uptill this point. On a side note, when I started it up this morning I didn't really let it warm up and I happened to **** it before I got out of my driveway. It took alot of cranking before it started up again. I'm just assumeing thats because I didn't warm up but I thought I'd mention it anyways.

Any ideas?

Re-Check all your connections again. Are you sure the ECT sensor was the correct unit? I dont know of any way you could have hurt the IAB. Have you tried cranking the car and holding the pedal to the floor? This will *not* flood these cars, it turns the injectors off to clear any flooding. Try that too. Good Luck!

Sweet, I got the car started. When I went back to it and tryed again it kinda spurted then went back to just cranking. After a little bit I taped the gas and it sputered and I gave it a little more gas and it started.

Is there something I did wrong(besides give it to much gas)that it wouldn't start right away or is that how it is when you clean the AIB valve?

After a little drive around town it runs just fine. Two things I noticed, 1. It now idles down to 900rpm as opposed to 1100rpm, 2. When I pulled into my garage it about killed with the revs droping to 500rpm. It did this a couple times then evened out to 900rpm. Could this be that semi-bad gasket?

I'm having the exact same problem! I cleaned my IAB, and now when I tap the gas, the idle dips to about 700RPMs after going up. It's also causing the alternator to really struggle (the pully and unit are warm, and the battery is only getting 12v, 13.5v with the headlights off at idle). I think I'm going to try popping the IAB back off, and I may buy a new one. I do wonder about that gasket though, as mine was flaking too. Perhaps a little RTV would seal it right up? And does anybody know if the gasket comes with the IAB from Autozone or anywhere else, if this is the problem?

Just toko a look at that, and went to pick up a new IAB. I got it at Autzone for about $55, it's a Wells TV200, I think they called it a throttle air control or something. I put it in, it came with a new gasket, and it seems to have solved the problem. I was working on resetting the idle until I heard a belt squealing, so that's why I don't have more info yet. But the idle wouldn't dip like it used to, at least until I had to stop the reset procedure.

When I went for a drive today, a total of about 3 hours running errands, I didn't have any problems what so ever. I'm a little mystified. I hadn't reset the idle speed program yet but I will tonight when I replace the ACT and temp sensor. Do you have to reset the computer everytime you replace sensor?

Yes, and whenever you are working on any electrical sensor you should disconnect the negative battery terminal anyways.

I took the SHO out for a long drive, and all I can say is that it has greatly improved with the new IAB. It doesn't try to stall itself now when I push in the clutch or tap the gas, either! I still wonder why we had this problem after cleaning the sensor, perhaps there's a spot where you shouldn't spray the C&C cleaner?

When cleaning an IAB you should work the valve open and closed with a small flat screwdriver. By washing it you freed up some junk and it restuck in the CLOSED position not letting any air in.

Becaureful when you move the valve, there is a diaphram inside that you can tear rendering the unit useless.

if you flip it over and look at it you will see what I mean.
