Where the bloody **** does the wiring for the cig lighter come from? I've got three connectors ********* that looks like this |:.:| and a grey two prong and a tiny black two prong.. where do they come from... gen 2
If for some reason you cant find those wires (I know you've been looking for a while) go to a parts store and buy a 'tap-a-fuse' Looks like this:
Find a suitable fuse in your panel. Look in the owner's manual and research the fuse panel map. Since you are only using the cig lighter to charge a phone or maybe a lap top, you wont be pulling much current. My phone takes less than 1 watt to charge and my 15.6" lap top takes 43 watts to charge with the computer running (15-20 with the screen closed) according to my charger with a display screen. If you want to have the plug only work with the key on, find a fuse (preferably larger than 10amps) that powers something like the ignition, EEC ersumshit. if you want power 24/7 tie into something that works with the key off or on (horn, brakes, door locks etc). Run your ground wire to something metal in the dash and thats all you need to do.
Okbgot everything ran. I can find a good power souce, I was thinking the ignition but I'm not syre which wire to pull from.. if anyones pulled power from the ignition can I snag a pix? If not I'm just goona pull any 12v and hope I don't **** anything up..
if the tap a fuse is meant to fun off of the fuse block it should be easy to figure out which circuit the cig lighter is on and then tap into that one. I know jason used to pull power for his gauges off of the radio but that might have also been the cause of his other issues.
