My check oil light came on earlier, pulled over turned off car, let it cool a few minutes and checked the oil, it was fine. Light was not on when I restarted. Was this just a 'fluke' in my electrical or what...

It has gotten Mobil Synthetic ever since I bought it. It gets Mobil everything pretty much, Mobil Synthetic oil, tranny fluid, SUPER gas (97 octane). Just scared the shit out of me because I just put $1,000.00 into her.

The CHECK OIL light is connected to the oil level sender in the oil pan and illuminates when the oil level is low. The OIL light with the oil can image is connected to the oil pressure sender and illuminates when the oil pressure is below the safe operating pressure. The operating manual states that you should not operate the engine with this light illuminated - engine damage will occur.

It was the CHECK OIL light on the right side of the cluster. Was only on for a moment before I pulled over and shut it off. It has not come back on since and the oil level is fine. Checked it this morning, on my lunch break and when I got home form work.

My oil pressure light will flicker anytime I lug it while starting out and the revs drop to about 500 rpm. I consider this normal though, as the engine is barely turning so naturally the pressure will be low for this split second.

If it is just the yellow check oil light, I would not worry too much... that is simply telling you that the monitor believes you are about 1 qt. shy of full on the oil.

I almost sh*t myself the first time mine came on, which made me dart from the left lane to the berm in 5 seconds flat... then after reading the manual I found that it is only the RED light that you need to WORRY about. The yellow is more of a courtesy light than anything. And if you burn any oil between changes, it can go off easily.

Hope this helps.
