Just wondering if any one else runs the 89 octane in their SHO? I have been doing it for a while and don't notice any difference except my wife gets to spend more money out shopping now... :oogle:

Seriously, is this bad or am I only loosing performance?

I personally find the higher the octane I use the better the gas mileage. Haven't really figured out if its worth it in the end --- just know I get more miles to a tank when using higher octane. Its not that significant that I will spend 30 cents more on the gallon but if 87 or 89 is 2.29 I will spend 2.39 for 91 or whatever. Just depends.

I myself have had great luck running just 87. Everyonce in a while I will run a few tanks of 93 or 91 to see if it will affect power and mileage.

For me those few tanks of 93 is usually absolutely the same as running 87.

I never noticed pinging/knocking with 87 and it doesn't feel as if the computer is significantly pulling back the timing.

Obviously your mileage may vary.

Yeah I just try to use higher octane on longer trips. Probably why I noticed a couple times I do get more miles on a tankn --- it is highway driving. No noticeable difference though otherwise. I think a lot would agree that most of the time anymore it is cheaper to go buy a thing of octane booster from local parts store anyway.

I run 89 in two of my SHO's all time. No problems.

The only times I run premium is in the 91+ and the 92 when I am pulling things and loaded to the hilt. It is not uncommon for me to pull a trailer with two jetski's, several full coolers, full trunk and 4 passengers.

Many have reported using 87 with no problems. As long as the engine isn't pinging, knocking you won't hurt the engine.

I have also noticed I get better mileage with premium on longer trips. However the one or two miles to the gallon probably isn't worth the extra cost...
