Did not want to start. After while finally got it to fire. Idled very rough. When it stalled, which was often, sounded like back pressure in the cylinders. Left it overnight and it finally started and kept running for about five minutes. Stalled and the same thing as the night before. Checked fuel pressure at the rail and it is 40 psi. When it is running it drops to around 36-37 psi. Rev the engine and at around 3700 rpm, starts breaking up really bad. Like it is hitting a Rev limiter, which it does not have. It will not go over 3800rpm. Then it stalls when going back to idle and starts hard again. Will not start and run again. Like its starving for fuel. Anyone know where to start looking for problems?

Wow. I never knew. One reason I got here. Limited knowledge of what I have. Thanks, I will check codes now.

Did you unplug the battery? If so you may need to teach the SHO how to idle.

depending on how far off the iac solenoid is from the "guess" that the pcm starts with, I have had it take as much as 10 days of driving to get the pcm to "learn" the proper iac pulsewidth to make the engine idle properly without stalling. If you have no codes, just drive the car a while.

You can teach the SHO how to idle which resolves the issue if it forgot how to idle.

Those codes are problematic and some of them may have been stored for a while. I would disconnect the battery for a few minutes to drain the system and reset the computer, start and run it again, and see what fresh codes pop back up.

error code 556 only one that showed up. But there were a series of 1's after everything seemed to be done. Ran for about 3 minutes then began surging and backfiring until it stalled. It was after the stall that I checked codes.

Got back in town this morning. Excited to run through the teach process. Did everything as prescribed. Turned it off and went into the house for lunch. After about an hour I decided to give her a test run as I needed back up bulbs for my pickup truck. Got about two miles down the road without a hitch, then it started skipping and backfiring. No power. got it coasted into the auto zone parking lot and when I tried to crank it, it acted like tremendous pressure in the cylinders. cranked extremely hard for a few rounds then free up for a few rounds then hard crank. I left it there for a few hours and went home. Went back a few minutes ago and it fired right up. Driving it back home and it stalled again just as i was turning into the driveway. Noticed that my automatic headlights quit working. Again very hard crank and no start. I will check the codes again, although no CEL light, and update again.

sounds to me like you have a bad connection somewhere.
