I'm pretty sure my 2011 PP only has a single disc player.... Are you sure you're not thinking about a different vehicle with a 6 disc player?

Modernizing? People using Bluetooth & USB sources instead?

I would agree. I know alot of the nicer aftermarket stereos don't even offer CD players now. It's just a giant hard drive...with bluetooth and usb connections. I would be shocked if most people under 25 or 30 even buy/own CDs anymore.

Because my 128GB iPhone 6S has 1250 CDs on it and I can use talk to siri on the latest sync upgrade to bring up any song/artist/album in my library. I would prefer that my 2013 not have a CD player at all and use the space for more capacitors to get more watts out of the system.

I really haven't touched a CD in at least 5 years, nor do I know anyone else who has. I would rather they put a hard drive there

Why mess around with CDs when you can put all the music on a USB which takes up less space? You have complete control via voice or use of the menu. I have plenty of old CDs but I copied their contents onto a USB. I still use the CDs in the house but not the car.

I've tried putting all my mp3's on a usb, the car says it is not recognized. I've tried different size usb sticks, different file system formats...nothing works. Burning them onto a CD does work every single time. I wish my car had a 6 disk changer.

I am far from an expert on this and hopefully others can help. I have a 2010 MKS and a 2014 Taurus. USBs with loaded MP3s work great in both. I have ripped CDs and put on the USB and also downloaded albums and songs from Amazon and loaded them on the USB. I have never had an issue with it being unrecognized.

Oh, I think the difference in the 2010-2012 is Navigation versus non-navigation system vehicles. I suspect the non-nav has the 6-disc, with navigation is only a single disk plus a harddrive.

True, didn't think of that, the 2011 did not have Nav. 2013 does.

99.9% of my mp3's are flying the skull and crossbones flag that I got back in the napster days. With the radio being powered by microsoft, I wouldn't doubt if that had a little something to do with it.

For 2010-12 Taurus the RS 202 option package contained the 6 disc in dash CD changer.

The common answers in this thread are correct more people either using iPod, Bluetooth, USB mp3 etc... I would suspect that vehicle CD players are on borrowed time. the RS 200 series package removed the CD changer and was single CD player with or without NAV. The only other change for 2013 RS 2XX series was the wheel design, same 19" rims but a different design.

2014 removed the Ambient Lighting, SONY system entirely for SEL, and IA Keyless start. 2015 Added back in the IA Keyless start but still kept out the SONY and Ambient Lighting. Power adjustable pedals are NON memory both years.

RS 2XX series option packages are the SEL.......SE is 1XX SEL 2XX Limited 3XX and SHO 4XX
2013 had 201 and 202. Model Year 14 and above they basically combined some of the features of the 2013 MY and made a single option Package 201A instead of 201 and 202.

There is some relief for what its worth but 2013 and above changed to DUAL USB ports.

Rapid Spec 202A – SYNC + Reverse Sensing System
+ ambient lighting + Intelligent Access with push-button
start + power-adjustable pedals + Audio System from Sony®
with AM/FM stereo/6-disc in-dash CD changer, MP3
capability, 12 speakers and 390 watts
+ rear view camera
+ 19-in. painted Sparkle Silver aluminum wheels with
P225/45R19 all-season tire

With the sync 3.8 update and the latest IOS, holding the sync button down for three seconds brings up SIRI instread of SYNC. Siri is way better at voice control when it comes to calling people and navigating your music library. You can also access Pandora, apple music, and spotify using SIRI. The only thing missing is having IOS pass adddresses to the NAV system, but thats what SYNC 3 and Carplay is supposed to do.
