My SHO has a Clarion 6 disk changer in the trunk. I'm assuming that it is aftermarket?? I'm thinking of just ripping the thing out and replacing it down the road. It plays and everything, but insead of hearing music, you hear static and the seconds click through the speakers. What I mean by the seconds clicking is that while you watch the seconds counter, you can hear the seconds change on the screen as you see them move. SO everytime you see the time change you hear a click. Sounds like a ground problem to me. But I thought I wuld throw that out there for you guys so see what you think.

I would take it out but thats me. I dont like having to pull over just to change the cd's (6) out when Im done listening to them. It sounds like an audio connection not a ground.

I hate disc changers... they never work right, my dads truck has one and it doesnt play anything for crap. What dave said sounds like the first thing to do on your list... meaning the audio connections otherwise i'd start looking at the grounds after that, and you could possibly have a bad unit? ehh well have fun with that i hate checking wires... as i have a whole mess load of wiring to do on my car..... like not having the cornering lights and the fog lights to come on when ever you flip the headlamp switch... ahh yup

Sounds like fun.

Personally, I hate disc changers. The GTP has one (stock 12 disc) and it really is a pain in the ass having it. I'd rather have a single disc in dash anyday.

no , it was in the car when I got it. It's a old one, but I want to know what came OEM for a changer. IN my other Taurus I bought a OEM cnahger and I installed it in the trunk. I like it, I use it often.

Only OEM CD Changers were for the 96-99's.

Sounds like a weak ground is your problem. May be somewhere on the car, not the unit itself. You could by a filter to try to **** some of the static if you can't find the problem.

Yeha, from my experience ( I use to do sound and lighting for Vic Ferrari) if you have a bad ground that was what would happen. I'll have to pull the wires one day and check it out. I thought that Gen 2s came wiht a optional changer in the trunk. This one that I have has a little control that is in the the storage compartment that I have in dash under the radio ( that called the DIN? ).
