Whats up boys. I bit the bullet and replaced my long block after smoking my number 4 cylinder. My catalytic converter is throwing a code now and my car wont pass emissions. Where is the best place to get/order new cats and should I look into getting performance ones or stock

The catalytic converters per se won't be throwing a code since there's no directly sensor for the converter. But the oxygen sensors either before or after the converters might be registering values that suggest there could be an issue with a converter. There are a lot of folks on this forum that are pretty familiar with the typical codes, and a lot of codes related to catalytic converters that could be caused by something other than a bad converter. Granted, having a bad cylinder that was either letting oil past the rings and into the exhaust or misfiring and passing fuel into the exhaust could lead to a catalytic converter failing, there could be other much less expensive causes for some codes related to the converter that might also be worth exploring first.

It may be in your wallet's best interest to share the exact codes that your car has and let the community guide you on their experience with the code/codes as well as replacement catalytic converter options.

P0430: Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (Bank 2)
P0150: O2 sensor circuit (bank 2 sensor 1)

These are the two codes that came up. I think the cat is impacted with a bunch oil from when my number 4 cylinder went out nut any help is appreciated

The P0430 might be due to the issue causing the P0150, and the P0150 might be caused by an exhaust leak between the manifold and the catalytic converter. Or it could be a bad bank 2 upstream oxygen sensor or wiring for the upstream sensor.

Do you have access to a scan tool so that you can monitor the performance of the bank 1 upstream sensor and fuel trim values?
