Sooo I picked up a set of catted DPs... I decided to go ahead and start the removal of the existing pipes so when the new ones showed up I could slap them in.....

It appears the previous owner literally ran the Borla exhaust and had some custom work right up the mid pipe connector behind the cats... I took some pictures.. doesn't look like any of the stock flex pipe or bends...

New cat-back exhaust! Maybe...

I know that's not helpful... Sorry

What exactly is the question here?

From what I'm seeing the new DPs should bolt right up to the current catback. What I'm seeing looks pretty similar to my exhaust. The DP's bolt up to the catback which has some flex pipe on it, then another resonator, and then it goes back to the rear. I don't see anything in the pictures that I would believe to prevent new DP's from being installed.

It also looks like something around your front turbo is leaking oil all over that belly pan.

Yea.. thats from the turbo oil lines.. there is a TSB about that... Repaired it awhile ago but the plastic cover is still stained...flash on the camera made it worse looking than it is..

The problem is that there are no flanges after the flex pipe to connect the downpipes too...

The DPs get connected before the flex tubes. In the last picture, just after the O2 sensor, that ****** is where the down pipe ends. There's another ****** in the same spot on the other DP. My stock exhaust is one piece from that point all the way to the rear (at least in fairly certain it is).

*EDIT* Information incorrect and based on bad memory.

Hmmm maybe... But all the DPs out there by LMS, PPE, and SW have flex pipe on them..and by the pictures they run from the turbo to right after the hanger where the existing flex pipe is which is why I thought the new DPs included flex pipe? I will just wait for my new ones to show up..

I guess my real question is if this car has 2.5in piping right up to the cats off the turbos is it worth the money for DPs?

Downpipes will include flex pipe. They bolt up where the 3rd cat is on a stock exhaust. You're kinda in a pickle since you'll need to weld new flanges on to bolt the exhaust to the dp's

+1. I would like to redact my previous statement. I got home today and looked under the car. Indeed there are flanges after the flex pipe before the 3rd cat that I didn't remember.

It appears the only way to get the DPs to fit is to cut the exhaust and weld in new flanges. If you cannot do that yourself you'll probably have to take it to an exhaust shop and they should be able to do it.

It looks like the entire factory connection point is missing. Contact Stainless works and see if they can make you one. In their case it would be an X pipe which also comes with their catback system. Here is what the factory exhaust looks like.

Here is the Stainless works set up with the resonator and resonator delete pipes that I had them add to their kit.IMG 1520

Yup, not too shabby... $250 out the door with DP's installed, new flanges installed, new gaskets, and removal of all crush bent piping that went back to the third muffler on the Borla. He ended up not adding the X-Pipe... he said if I wasn't happy with the sound he would add one but with the holiday weekend he didn't want to keep the car that long.. he doesnt have a mandrel machine so he would have to order universal which would take till after the holidays to get. No rasp, the drone has toned down quite a bit..
