Working on a 100% carbon trunk (not skin) and was able to get the upper portion roughed out and formed. Still a lot of work ahead and things will be slow until I have my garage isfinished but I'll get what I can done for upper until then!

I already called dibs on the 1st one he makes to sell! Lol For real though that looks awesome! I can't wait to see the finished product and what else you decide to make from carbon. Maybe a duck tail formed into the carbon trunk, or a full widebody carbon Taurus???

I thought about doing fenders awhile back but there wasn't as much weight loss protentional but it would be nice to have wide fenders for wider front tires. Might have to look into that again! I'm by no means a professional and depending on how this turns out I may not too too many more

So, been awhile for an update on this, I had to start from scratch due to an unforeseen problem. I came home a couple weeks ago to the outer skin on the floor and crunched in the middle. I can only make a guess that my dogs or kid was playing downstairs and knocked it off the rack and someone decided to test its durability by either falling or stepping on it. I'm in the process of finishing the mold for this project and will be redoing the outer once it warms up a little bit more and get the garage situated for this. Should go pretty quick thought once I get everything moved.

I don't know much about carbon, does it require extra prep to paint?

Yes but I have no intention of painting this one other than clear coat.
Carbon is such a beautiful material raw screw painting it, it always looks phenomenal with just a clear, but I can understand some people wanting the whole one color look

Agreed, this particular trunk isn't going to be regular weave either, I'll have a sneak peak for it once I get my mold situated.

The prices really vary on the cloth types/thinknesses I probably have with the extra trunk invested maybe $700 or so at this point maybe a little more. I'd say the time into it is probably more the issue than the money, a lot of trial/error to see what works best with the space I have. Now that we're slowly exiting winter here in MN I should have a lot more space to work with and things should come together a bit better.

Edit: Working at a bodyshop has definitely helped in terms of material cost and time from techs helping me out with oddball things.
