I've been smelling fuel vapors when my '92 is warm, after it's been driven a while. I don't see any leaks, and it's hard to pinpoint, but does the carbon canister ever reach capacity on these cars? About 160,000 miles on the car.

There are a couple of tiny orifices in the vent line between the fuel tank, carbon canister and throttle body. The orifices sometimes get clogged and could lead to the fuel smell. Additionally the Canister Purge Solenoid may have failed in the closed position. These are the most likely cause of your odor issue.

I've heard about the purge solenoid failing. Is it repairable, and where is it?

Concerning the vent line, I suppose I can trace it back from the throttle body to the tank.

Thanks...

Take off the spash sheild on the driver side. Its behind the fender. Most of the line you can find bulk at a Napa or whatever. The solenoid is "hanging" in the middle of that peice of hose. Can't miss it.

The solenoid is connected to the vent hose going to the throttle body. You will find it located under the CCRM. One of the two orifices are also in that vent hose. The second orifice is in the tee, down next to the lower radiator support.

I appreciate the detail. Like a T-shirt that SHO Source sells says,
