Hey I ended up taking my car to ford to get it diagnosed, it seems a wire bundle that goes through my firewall is the culprit.

Frayed wires or corroded wires caused a short in a relay box thats mounted on my firewall.

Does anyone know what relay that is on the firewall? i will call tomarrow and get a part number and see if they can match partsneworks prices.

Oh and btw i ended up getting a replacement ircm for my 93 atx and ended up i didn't need 140 out the door from fordpartsnet.

That is a problem I guess with this car, but it wan't in my car. Anyways, I drove the car home the other day, and I had no problems with it. BUt the thermostate is stuck open, don't heat worth a shit, and the brake switch was all screwed up, Iguess I didn't have brake light, but we fixed that also. The car needs a coolent flush bad, but I'm not driving that car for winter, so we will do it in spring.

UPDATE:

I bought a used IRCM off ebay. He hooked the car up to something to test to see if the alt. was overcharging. It was not. I repeated to him that this started after the car sat idling for about 30 minutes. The car was not overhearing, but it was sitting at idle for about 30 minutes. So he said maybe it's the fan. He said he checked the fan and he said it was pulling too many amps. (didn't say that that was, just too much) So he disconnected the fan.

Now a few days later, waiting for the fan to come in, it died again!

THIS IS COMPLETELY REDICULOUS. THERE HAS TO BE SOME REASON FOR THE PROBLEM.

AFAIK all the newer IRCM or CCRMs only have the high speed fuel relay. It is obvious that there is a short somewhere between the CCRM and the PCM I would think.

Does anyone have the phone numbers of people to contact that might be able to help get this mess resolved? Does anyone know anyone in So. Arizona that will work on Sho's and knows what they are doing?

I'm in panic mode here. It's been 2 months the car has been sitting at the shop and all they have managed to accomplish is pop 4 IRCMs without finding the cause.

PS.

I have called most all the places with working phone numbers at the shotimes.com vendor list. But so far, it's been a dead end for ideas.

UPDATE:

Everything but the wiring has been eliminated. We've looked in all the usual places, (around the motor shock dampner, fuel log, firewall, etc.) So we are down to just searching the wiring harness. If we are going to rip it off the car to search, might as well try to replace it.

If anyone has a extra wiring harness, in good condition, I'd be happy to buy it. Have a thread started here for WTB:
