Now its cranking but not starting. I double checked all my connections and made sure everything was plugged back in and no vrooom. please tell me where to start. I am going to check power to the spark plugs and coil to make sure thats good and i am also going to check to make sure its getting fuel, i hear the fuel pump prime when i turn the key to ON but its still not firing.

Here is a wire diagram from my Shim Kit-
DSCN1015
After fuel pump primes check fuel pressure at fuel rail valve-should get a fair squirt. Chek DIS is comp. connected & WELL grounded, check path or add a wire from firewall to rear lower DIS screw. Did you replace CPS while you were in there? Did you gap it right? Check for tach moving as you crank it.

I will check the fuel pressure at the shrader valve, im pretty sure I have all the electrical hooked up properly. Im not quite sure why the ground would be bad i connected it in the same spot i removed it. I didnt replace the cps and i gapped the plugs to 0.40 Thanks for the firing order i believe thats how i have it set up.

I have the same problem with my car right now. The ignition coil fuse under the hood keeps blowing when I replace it and start the engine. The engine starts when I put a new fuse in and then shuts down and only turns over with a blown fuse. Now I have to figure out what is blowing the fuse. Can anyone help.

Having fuel is sometimes not enough , you need the correct pressure , wich must be around 40 pounds if im not mistaken.

How have you determined that you are getting spark?

Is the DIS plugged in?

How about the engine ground strap to the rear surge tank?

If you found the 10A 'Ign fuse' blown and it keeps blowing when you get the engine started, unplug the water resavoir sensor. That is what was blowing my fuse.Unbelievable isn't it?
Got that tip from a friend at SHOWPOWER.

I GOT IT... fuel pressure was too low. I replaced the fuel filter and let it crank for about 20 seconds with out letting off and it turned over. I gues thats what happens after 8months of not running. Anyway engine sounds great and hopefully will run well.

I do have one more question though, I did a tranny swap and want to know what kind of tranny fluid to run in the MTX. Also it seems as if my driver side axel will not go ALL the way into the transfer case. Does anyone have any clue why that would happen. I just noticed it now as I was putting the suspension back together.

Tranny fluid? I know everyone has there preference but what do you all recomend for a tranny with 80k on it? Also what do I do with the axel that does not go all the way in?

Tranny fluid: take a gander in the owners manual.....SHO MTX calls for automatic transmission fluid. Dextron mercon is OEM replacement..many people use high end ATX fluid....when I get my bizzy built tranny, I'm planning on using Royal Purple ATX fluid.

As for your axle...I don't know...I'm an engine man.

ATX fluids goes in your MTX (alot of brands out there) I thing the Redline one is preferred.

The CV shaft needs to be tapped at the other end a little bit with a rubber hammer. Its not just slide in - it needs to "CLIP"

You said a tranny swap , is this a tranny replacement or you had a ATX , and switched to a MTX? If so , i think you need to used the MTX CV shafts.

sorry it was just a replacement not a atx mtx swap. I will try tapping at the other end with a rubber hammer. I will probly go with the Mobil ATX ATF.
