well...... i pressure tested my system today and i seem to have lost maybe 3/4 of a psi in about 3-4 minutes is this normal? if it is that small of a leak would that cause my overheating? or does the pump lose a little pressure on its own i filled up to the top of the 15-16 psi cap range and its at maybe 3/4 of that range now.

even after 10-15 minutes it did not move at all from 3/4 so i do not beleive i am not leaking coolant

im waiting for a response from my buddy he helped and may remember more because a month or so ago the belt that was on there snapped and the crank dampener pully was shot if i remember correctly i think the water pump pully was a little tense which would explain why my power steering would get tight when stopped also correct? also when it is running warm and im stopped if i turn the wheel my rpms drop about 100 or so is this normal?

do you think the crank dampener being bad could have messed the waterpump up and caused this? if the waterpump was running below what it should be would it cause more coolant to be in the overfill?

I drove my car for maybe 30 minutes today and through that time i was going about 40 or so and the whole time it was running right at M A besides when i got to a red light it would raise to R M the highest it really got to was R maybe my overflow being to full was causing problems? is there a sensor that controls the fan that is not in working order? what about if my radiator was underperforming would the airflow from moving cool it better?

To answer your questions...

The overflow being full just means you put a bit too much coolant in the system. Just use a bulb or small piece of hose to get it to a normal level. It shouldn't cause a cooling problem.

There could be a sensor, or a relay, or even the fan itself that is not working properly. When you do the key on, engine off code test, the fan should come on for a few seconds. If it doesn't, then you have a problem somewhere in that circuit.

And of course your car will cool better when it is moving, just because of the increased air flow. Especially in your area of the country where the air is still probably a bit cool and damp.

I think I read in your first post that you had used some stop leak. This is rarely a good thing to do. Just think about it. If it will stop up a hole (leak) somwhere in your system, it may also stop up some of the small holes in the radiator itself, thereby decreasing the flow of the coolant.

Get your system (not just the radiator itself) flushed at a reputable radiator shop or garage. They should be able to get the whole system clean, which could possibly solve your problem.

Good luck.

i already thought about the EEC test and the fan kicks on like it should but could something be telling the fan to come on late when it is running? around what range should the fan come on so i can check it out?

yea i know the stop leak was a bad idea but at the time my car was running extremly to hot and it was my first instinct i only put at most half in though cause after i put it in and it turned the coolant color dark i doubt guessed it. hopefully it didnt cause to much damage. thanks for all your help
