I was thinking about lowering my car by heating up the springs and then pushing them together. Is that a good idea?

Thanks!

That would be like putting Festiva springs on there. You'll ruin the ride and probably other components.

the best way to lower it is with an IPT coil over kit, they will give you your choice of spring rating so it will ride the way you want it to. you can also buy lowering springs, but they don't lower it that much. someone has fabricated a coil over kit to fit his SHO but its not suggested because the front main strut was not made to support the weight of the car, the IPT kit comes with special plates to support the weight. i have the kit, but its uninstalled for now. they pieces are of incredible quality and for the price, its the best you can possibly expect.

No this is dangerous..... It could distort the metal there for ruining the springs, and also making them weak

Heating the springs will cause them to lose their "temper". So they'll lose their ability to support weight and be more prone to breaking. Cutting the springs is a little better but you still sacrafice ride quality and suspension travel. The real solution is aftermarket lowering springs or the coilovers mentioned above.

From Shawn P. @ Ipt automotive. Its on our sponsors boards. Shawn is a great guy who frequents this board, he is co-owner of ipt and designed and developed the kit. It is Bad A$$.

Just don't use the "contacting forum members" forum to contact him. He don't like it...
