Did you mean to say 'revving'? If you're idle is that far above 800-900 RPMs, you have a serious problem such as a broken throttle return spring or throttle plate.

If you are referring to 'revving' the engine in park or neutral (which always boggles my mind why people do so), the PCM (computer) rev limiter kicks in at 4000RPM to protect the torque converter (part of the transmission) from overheating and damage. There are almost no valid reasons to subject an engine to such high RPM's while standing still.

As to your check engine light, it is telling you that there is a problem that needs further examination by reading the codes. All you need to read the codes is a paperclip. Here's a site which can teach you to read the codes yourself in a couple of minutes: http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html

Two quick suggestions: 1. Please turn off your caps lock, there's no reason to shout, 2. In the upper-right-hand section of your screen there is a link to the forums search function which when used will lead you to tons of valuable information accumulated here, including many CAQ's (Constantly Asked Questions). There's almost nothing that can't be learned about these cars in a quick search.
