today i fixed a blown fuse and put another new starter in my car cause last night it decided it wasn't goin to start. the fuse that was blown was tricky so i took the dash apart and checked the ignition switch, neutral safety switch, and all the wires. i had the battery unplugged for a lot of it but i did load it up pretty well with fuel. i drove the car around running like ass but it didnt clear up the check engine light came on when i first started it and it was idleing at 2000 but drops nicely to 900 when the iac is unplugged. then if the car isnt about 2700 if you put it to the floor it acts like it completely cuts spark and then around like 3000 it comes in and out but after that it has all its balls. the car did run fine before i did all this even with it not starting because i popped started it. Any ideas? also what is the relay on the firewall for?

classic symptoms of lean condition due to vacuum leak. check carefully as there are lots of vacuum lines that might be leaking.

i thought it could have been that at first but i looked around it didn't see anything and if i pull the iac it idles fine so i kinda checked that off the list. i needa pull codes but the cars a pain in the ass to get them

900 rpm w/ the iac unplugged is NOT fine - it will only idle that high with a significant vacuum leak.

my guess is that it leans out the engine, rather than flooding it - too lean drops power way faster than too rich.

the car will flood out the plugs soaking wet, today it did it a couple time to me where i would have to turn off the inertia switch start it let it run out of fuel and then hit the switch back on. but it didnt do it to me this morning or this after noon but i parked it for 5 minutes to get a coffee and it wouldnt start after

that sounds like one or more injectors not shutting off, and draining fuel pressure into cylinder after you shut it off.

btw, you can crank w/o fuel by pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor, so you don't have to screw w/ the inertia switch!

i tried puttin it to the floor thats the only way the car will start no matter what, this thing is driving me crazy my dads owns a mechanic shop and deals mostly with fords and he's a wiz with electrical and he messed with the mass air and a bunch of shit and he thought it might be the coolant sensor cause on a mustang it will make the car run too rich if it goes bad, hmm idk and i thought about the injectors but i put a scope up and they are all firing and i would think that if the car sits for a long time it would still start hard?

unless they sell a chip that is hard soldiered into the pcm there isnt anything there it doesnt even look like the factory sticker was ever removed off of the front of it, i tried my spare mass air and spare idle controller, from the big style to the one with the black cap. the one with the black caps the newer style anyway right? well now the car idles at 3500 and i also tried pulling the fuse i replaced back out and still goes crazy, but could someone please tell me where all the fusible links are so i can check those out too? it smells like something might be burning up under my short ram intake. thanks for all the help

also on my way home i unplugged the idle controller and just screwed in the adjuster so it idles at about 1100 and if i get on the car at low rpms its fine also, the car only screws up from 2 to 3 grand is there anything in particular to these cars the controls that rpm range?

bogging at particular rpm in the middle of the range is generally due to a sick tps. if its just sick, and not dead, it will often not set a code. I would get a new tps.

i tried a spare tps too but i dont remember if i reved the engine or not i'll try it again, but the one thing idk about is it smells like electrical fire under the short ram and i cant pin point it exactly as i'm kind of sick haha
