If car sits overnight I have to turn key 4 times to build pressure than it starts. Now if I just run up to the store and it only sits a few minutes it fires right up. I'm sure it's a common issue. Vehicle has 154000 so she's an old lady. Thanks for any help. I did pay this in the emergency firm bites is not an emergency. Sorry.

I still have same issue. For better or worse nothings changed. I'm thinking fuel pressure regulator. I'm just worried about the extra wear and tear on an already old and original starter.

Most likely the fuel pump needs to be replaced. Is it priming when you turn the key to ON but not start? Checked the pressure at the rail at that time? How long does it hold if you don't start the engine?

No the car starts, I just have to prime it 5 to 6 times. Once I start it and shut it off it will fire right back up unless it sits for 3 or more hrs.

The 97 I had, had the same issue. Fuel pressure would fall off after shut off. Swapped with a pump assy from another car, did the same thing. Tried to see if an injector was leaking down, but never saw anything. Never resolved it before selling it.
