After driving for a few minutes park the car go back after 30 mins to start it. Will crank fire then die then is a total pain to start back up. And the tach stays at 0? For a few minutes.... Then come back and all is good. 93 3.2 atx

Camshaft Position Sensor.
Second guess is Crank Position Sensor.
If it always starts first time, every time when cold, then second guess becomes first guess.

test if its the cam sensor: unplug the cam sensor. you may need several attempts to start it, because it has to guess which cylinder is #1 (that is what the cam sensor tells the pcm) and the tach will stay at zero, but once started it should run fine. If it runs fine like this, then you have confirmed it is the cam sensor.

If it does not run fine in the test above, then you could have a bad: crank sensor, dis, ccrm, etc.

if it has the same symptoms (will die and not start for ~30 minutes) with the cam sensor unplugged, then you know it is not a cam sensor problem. in that case, it is likely a crank sensor, but it could be the other things I listed as well.

You sure the fuel pump is louder than usual and making noises? Sounds like a clue. You check fuel pressure?

So it runs fine with cam sensor unplugged. Started right up...that should eliminate crank sensor?.

Maybe. Crank sensor can be temperamental before it dies all the way. I would say that if it runs better with the cam sensor unplugged you probably found your answer. It should not start on the first attempt every time you turn the key with the sensor unplugged. I think there is a percentile chance with catching ignition each time you turn it over without the cam sensor plugged in.

Ok so update... Now i do have a new cam sensor. But have now found out crank sensor is new as of august. So that been eliminated. So car never showed symptoms for a week. Then after a drive across town and then turning it off for 30 mins its did it. But if i just to say tap the gas as it tries to fire bam starts up no issues... So now as it starts and goes to die i tap the gas and no problem 100% of the time still think its the cam sensor?... I am going to swap the dis because i have 2 spares. Then see. If its still does it il swap cam sensor but if i. An avoid using the 80$ sensor i will.

Swap the DIS and see what happens. Some of the hall effect sensors act up before they die completely. Eliminate what is easy and then move to the next. You may find the cam sensor is failing, or the DIS could fix it, or not sure. sensor failure is more common, cracked DIS has been known to cause problems, and then it gets potentially more complicated. Air fuel spark. Air seems ok, so on to the rest...

just cause the crank sensor was new in August does not eliminate it from risk - I have seen them bad out of the box.
