I know you may have seen this in another topic, but I think that I put it in the wrong place, so here it is again…

All right, I've got a good problem for everybody. My 1991+ has always started right up without any hesitation. My borther and Idecided to install two 12 inch subs recently, and now the problems have begun. Basically, after my brother and I had finished testing the subs after an initial install, the car refused to start. The only modifications made to the car before the no starting problem start problem were a power cord run directly from the positive terminal to the amp's power terminal, and two reciever out terminals used to send a signal to the amp's input. After removing the added power cable and audio cable, the car refused to start. I thought that it was a dead battey first, so I went to Autozone and had the battery recharged, brought it home, and still no luck. I got the battery replaced for free, installed it, and still no luck. I have however, been able to start the car ONCE by jumping it with my Dad's SVT Contour. Now, it won't even start with a jump. All interior light work, chimes sound, and the starter relay (bendix) sparks. My dad is certain that it isn't the starter motor because the car started once by being jumped. THe car doesn't even make a sound when the key is turned to start the car. My cables are not corroded and I have a one year old alternator.
Alsom the fuel pump is good, for certain.

Please help.
Thanks,

I would try and replace the starter still. Also check that the wire to the starter is even connected. Also there needs to be a signal to turn the amp on and off, What did you use? Did you use a coninuous source that could be draining the battery?

Hi Revs Jr clutch
I had the same problem with my 1994 MTX. It would start fine sometimes, and other times wouldnt do a damn thing. I was able to start it by pushing it and popping the clutch though. I had interior lights and everything. I thought it was the battery...etc. I took off the started and took it to autozone and had them test it. they said it was good, when in reality their testing stuff is crap. Basically, I had my started tested at an advance auto parts and they said my starter was shit, it was actually turning backwards. After replacing the ground wire to teh started, checking out teh selenoid, push starting the damn thing for a week, I found out autozone was wrong. Bought a started from advance (cheapest I found) and havt had a problem since. :)

If theres a short in the starter itself, won't it ground out thru the starter? I have power drains through a starter before in my truck.
