Update:

Got home, car started immediately while still on the ramps.
Let it idle for a while, revved it a few times, had time to do a couple more logs. Then it died.

Screenshot 20200508 175253 WhatsApp

Peaks are at approx 5k rpm.

This one is at idle and when it died.

Then went and measured voltage while cranking, got nothing. I am convinced the issue is the module and it presents when the internals warm up a bit.
So I am going to get a new one next week, need to call the dealer since I cannot find this PN anywhere, just a few used ones on eBay.

According to this site https://www.taurusclub.com/threads/so-my-fuel-pump-module-died.340266/ the PN is AA8Z-9D370-B but Tascaparts and other sites state that this part doesn't fit the 2010.

Only codes so far since I replaced the battery and reset the codes have been P00C6 and P0087, both related to low fuel pressure. Po627 could have been there for a while, from the multiple times when my battery died.

That was the passenger side. That is the high pressure one, right?

I was hoping for you to chime in, I know you know how the brain of these vehicles work. That connector that I removed, is that power to the FP?

Is the video from YouTube accurate? No voltage = bad FPM? I got not voltage last night when it last died.

Passenger side does indeed house the low pressure electric fuel pump. It should have 4 circuits to it, two being the colors i called out.

This pump is a 2 speed pump. Spec says about 65 PSi, which i would assume is the low speed. I have seen when i disable my H.P. fuel pump that the electric can create about 100 PSI.

if there is no voltage across those two pins at the fuel pump connector, and you have no power across those two pins at the module (indicating there is not an open on the two circuits), and the module has power and ground (violet-green (power) and black (ground) then the fuel pump drive may indeed be failing on you.

I tested the yellow/gray against ground-body (at the connector - pump end, with it off as in the pic) and got 12.x when it worked and 0 when it was dead.

the fuel pump driver module latest part number is: AA8Z-9D370-B. You dont have to take my word for it, and i understand if you don't trust me :)

The 9D416 basic part number on the module is an engineering basic part number and why you were not finding it.

According to the video above, if you have 12v at the yellow wire at the pump connector while cranking start then the module is good and pump is bad. If not, then you work backwards and module is likely. Especially since the 13-15 cars had a recall for that module failing and stalling cars while driving.

@luigisho I found that video (see post #7) after @ridered74 outlined that these modules were known to fail, did a lot of testing and have come to that same conclusion. I plan to replace the module with a new one, thanks.

@Johnbigdog I did find that some sites call this module a "relay", relays are pretty generic but my concern was around a "module" not being compatible with the 2010, which was built with leftover electronics from NASA's first trip to the moon (even the module I removed is wrapped in foil...:rofl::rofl:). Also not sure why parts sites state that part number is not compatible but now that you said it, I won't doubt the dealer when they come back and say the latest PN fits my vehicle.

There are many instances of faulty part information making its way into the system and then propagating across parts referencing systems everywhere. Ford updated the taurus platform in 13 but I am not so sure the entire fuel system was redesigned. Post back with what you find out.

I failed to recognize the video as I get taken to the most recent post when I check back and I forgot it was already on page 1.

Called the local dealer, gave them the PN stamped on my module and guess what? He said that was an engineering number but from it he was able to find what fitted my car... guess again, PN AA8Z-9D370-B... where did I read that before @Johnbigdog ?
So all Taurus' use the same PN.

Came home, installed it, car started right way. Let it idle for almost an hour, came back to the garage and it was still running. Took it out for a short spin and it ran perfectly.

Case closed. Thanks to all for your contributions.

This one came without the foil, guess aliens will now be able to control it...

I lost my module this week also, I think once summer and hot temps hits, it's calls them modules home, LOL

Update:
Last night car would try to start but then died immediately, like lacking fuel. After multiple attempts it just cranked, no ignition.
Knowing what I know now, I tapped the fuel module a few times to wake up the gremlins with no luck.

Left the car at work and this morning went and bought a new module. Took a couple of cranks to get fuel delivered (didn't give it a chance to prime) and it came back to life.

This module had the same PN as the one I replaced in May 2020 so it lasted 8 months and about 5k km (3.1 k miles)... this is absurd, wonder if there is something causing these modules to go bad. Luckily dealer I bought it from said it had a 2 year warranty so was able to replace it at no cost.

Looking to buy another one to keep in the car. Found this Dorman one on Rockauto:
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=8496684&cc=1445050&jsn=317

It says:
  • Upgraded replacement - this fuel pump relay module features enhanced internal hardware for greater reliability
  • Failure-resistant design - increased current capacity in module prevents future transistor failure
Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): 8U5Z9345B, 8U5Z9345C, 8U5Z9345D, AA8Z9345A, AA8Z9D370A, AA8Z9D370B, AA8Z9D370D

So there is also a new Motorcraft PN "...D" vs the "...B" I got today.

This Dorman is very cheap, has anyone tried it?

I don't have this particular generation of SHO. All I can say is that their electronic replacement parts have been hit and miss over the years. Some modules and sensors good and others not consistent. The part is cheap enough to have one at home (or in the car) in case of emergency.

My car just died 3 times in a row while backing out of the garage. Only code was P0627. I ordered a Module (the Dorman one). We'll see if that fixes it.
What's odd is after 3 times, it started running normal again. Took it on like a 20min drive with no issues.

I’m definitely convinced this module has become a, keep a spare in the trunk item. Especially if your four or five years old. It leaves you stranded for sure and it’s easy to change on the go.
