car die at idle

2nite, every time i slowed down for stop light and not in gear, idle drops and oil light on. sometimes it will recover. but mostly dies if i don't keep one foot on gas.

when im sitting idling, it will often do the same.

oh yeah. i do need to change oil and i have a small leak from area of oil pressure sending unit.

hopefully with oil change the small knocking and ticking might go away..........???

projectSHO89 is probably on the mark, but you may want to try the idle reset procedure first (and also after replacing the idle air control valve if you find you need to).

checked the oil, sure enough a quart low. gotta fix the leak from my oil pressure sending unit. put a quart of oil in, now in normal level band. no more dying or idle drop. does the unit send a signal to shut off car with low oil pressure or something?
