OK, I am in the middle of of a bunch of last minute projects on my 91 w/the 3.2 swap, but am having problems with the 95 MTX alternator I swapped in place of my oem 91' unit. I changed to the newer front bracket(off a 95 3.0 SHO) that bolts to the front of the front accesory bracket and have spliced in the newer connectors. I can get the newer front bracket to align, but NOT the rear slot with the really long bolt. It simply won't rock back into place. Am I just missing something obvious or does upgrading to the newer alternator require me to swap out the actual front accesory bracket that mounts to the block too? (the one that even the AC compressor bolts to that is where the rear long bolt threads through?) Please tell me NO b/c my A/c is recharged and I do not want to have to do that... thanks in advance. Oh and I upgraded to the 95 alt b/c I got a smoking deal on the UDPs for the 94/95 MTX style alt and also b/c I wanted to higher output. Just so you understand the reasons for my stupidity/insanity :headbang:

if you really really want the alternator.... go to an alternator shop (if you can, i know there is one about 10 min away from my house) and have them swap the guts.... or have them build you one, instead of trying to fit it on the car... I haven't really dealt much with the gen 2's and alternators, and with different brackets...

Decided to have my 91 alternator revamped with possibly the 95 alts. internals. At any rate I hopefully have the UDP situation figured out too. Moral of the story is if you want to swap a 95 Alternator in a pre94 car you need both brackets off a 94/95, the connectors off the 94/95, and I'm guessing a different length belt. I think it's too much work... if I can have my 91 unit beefed up it'll end up being much easier.

personally that's what i would do... just get the one that came off your car re-done... idk about the pricing between re-doing the origional one from a 94/95 alt, but it will go right back in the car w/o a prob! *\L!
