Can you fit a 4guage wire through the firewall in the SHO without having to drill a big hole? Specifically a 92? Thats what I was planning on doing but I just wanted to make sure. I know 4guage is pretty big but Im eventually going to be running 2 amps so I want to be ready for it.

You should be able to fit a 4 ga. I was able to fit a 2 ga wire through the firewall. I didn't have to drill any holes either.

Yes there is a rubber grommet near the clutch cable that can be accessed by pulling back on hte rug and the rubber mat up against the fire wall. If you look under the hood on the driver's side you can see it. Thats where mine is. BTW .... need a deal on a install kit for your amps ?? Comes with everything you need except the RCAs. Let me know....

Please install a fuse at the battery end of this 4 ga cable that is going through the firewall. Please. I hate it when SHOs burn to the ground.

If you need to use a grommet, get the kind available at a marine store where you can heat it up with a hair dryer and seal the wire - much better than just a grommet.
Also use a marine breaker rather than a fuse - more reliable and is re-settable, available from 1 amp on up. Much better than those gold plated dinosaur fuses - talk about "giding a lily", literally!

Well usually amp hookup kits (like the one Im planning on buying) come with a fuse that is right at the battery, in this case a 60 amp fuse. I have a friend that works at Circuit City that can sell me a Monster Cable kit for about 30 bucks, and then 20 bucks for the RCA's.

There is a hole (with grommet!) a little above and left of the clutch cable looking from inside.

Its easiest to push the grommet OUT from the inside and put it back from the inside ... about 45 minutes finding the damn thing, 2 minutes running wire.

Just cut an 'X' in it and use that, might need some more wire since the battery is on the other side but it holds up nice. Had a little tug'O'war with my wife to make sure the grommet wouldnt go anywhere, and it didnt.

(This is on a 92 MTX)
