Can someone please tell me how and what made the engine bay of my car so dirty. It was like this when i got it and I've been trying to clean it with OrangeBrite but some still won't come off. I'm talking about all the yellowish stuff. Here are a few pictures:

Any idea what that is and how it got that way? Also any idea on what i can use to clean it. The Orange stuff is ok but i need a sort of brush to get the rest of it off.

I got it looking better, but I'm some liquid going to have to take some things out to get everything off. It seems like some kind of grease or something. It's not really grease though. It might bethat that caked over or something. When i let that Orange cleaner sit for a while it helps a bunch by loosening up the stuff. I havn't used any water, just paper towels wiping and scraping it off.:nut:

Congratulations, you now have a ligitimate use for WD40. It will soften the rustproofing, but Bills kerosene is cheaper.

I'll have to post pictures up tomorrow. It looks so much better now, but some still needs cleaning. I'm going to move a few things around so I can get to it. I just see everyone else's car with a nice clean engine bay and then I see mine and I'm thinkin wow it's terrible. I'll try the toothbrush idea, it should help out a lot since I've been using my fingernails, haha.
