It sounds like the pressure light is only coming on when the engine falls below idle speed, which is normal. If the red light comes on around idle or higher, then yes you may have worn bearings.

First thing to do is check the computer for stored trouble codes using this procedure- http://www.shophoenixproject.com/eec/eec.htm.

It could be something as simple as resetting the idle. Try searching the forum for "idle reset procedure" or something like that.

Stop driving it NOW....

Change your rod bearings ASAP or you'll be replacing your engine instead.
....Except, that doesn't seem like the problem. His problem is it doesn't drive well and now the idle is dropping low enough to cause low oil pressure.

I'd start with what frosho said.

That 551 code makes me wonder if your secondary intake runners are stuck open. They're supposed to be closed under ~4000 RPM. If not, there won't be much low end torque and the drivability might suffer. I'd check them out.

The 211 code could mean your crank sensor is about to crap out on you. Could also be DIS related.

Did you reuse the stock butterfly plate? I would check your secondary connection. It's easy to get it mixed up or forget a vacuum hose. When you unplug them while the car is running they should open.

I don't think using the stock butterfly plates will cause this problem but it might not be helping. Try the idle relearn procedure.

Additional air is weeping past the butterflies if the stock plate is being used because the airway is not sealed as well as it would be with the bigger plates. Your car has learned how to idle with the previous amount of air going into the engine. Now, there is more and hasn't quite learned how to handle it.

This could easily be fixed with an idle relearn, clean MAF, and fix butterflies if they're stuck open. *IF* either one of those is the culprit.

Also try removing the MAF and see if it idles better. If it does you need a new MAF

the air getting past the butterflies has already been metered, so I doubt that's the problem. This sounds like a vacuum leak or a loose intake hose clamp or a faulty Idle Air Bypass. Can you get us a picture of the intake side of the engine compartment?
