can a bad cam sensor cause a no-start cond?

I have a no-start 3.0 SHO that I am buying and havent had a chance to get codes. I don't have time to diagnose, get parts, and then install parts. The front of the engine is exposed. The timing belt is fine and the engine IS timed correctly. I will be replacing CPS as I THINK this is the major culprit (along with a weak starter and battery)

The info that I have says that the car will start with a dead cam sensor, but it may take a few extra cranks.

I MUST have this car running ASAP as it will be in my brothers garage. This is not a "replace it while you are in there" condition. It's a "get it running ASAP" condition.

I will pull codes when I get the car indoors, but it's about an hour away.

I drove out there yesterday and swapped DIS module with mine, and my car still ran, so it's not the DIS causing the no start.

I could hear the fuel pump prime when I hooked up a battery(shoulda pulled codes right then and there...but for some reason I didnt think of it). So Its getting fuel. I was alone and working in the snow, so dont rag on me too much for not checking for spark.:p

Any other suggested parts to get?

Well without any codes your gonna be shooting in the dark... Sorry to say it, but your in a position that your going to have to pull the codes, or play the guessing game, oh how i hate the guessing game. Without codes the only advice i can give is start with the basics, fuel pump primed when you turned the key forward so thats a pretty good indication your getting fuel. Only other two are spark, and air.

For me Yes. It would crank but not fire up. Key cycle would get it to catch sooner or later to randomly hit the correct coil bank.
