+40 guys and stage 2 cam guys, what are you shifting at? Is my stock limiter actually limiting my powerband? I noticed today while comparing my car to a srt4 on back roads in mexico that after 6500rpm i would really start pulling ahead. Is 7200 to early for these cams?

Your peak will likely be around 6800. So 8K shifts are in order if you have UDP's.

x2. With stock cams 7k is a good shift point. Since your powerband shifted up (and it doesnt drop off like before) I would say somewhere in the 7500-8000 range. With mine I try and shift about about 7500, though there have beeen a number of occasions where I was "Comparing Speed" and hit the 8200 rev limiter....mostly in 2nd.

Of course, as stated, you only want to do this if you have UDP.

So what are your impressions of the cams? Do you have a dyno avaliable in your area? My car feels stock until about 5k, then it gets from 5k to 8k in a hurry.

And remember that power to the ground also has to do with the gear ratio....there was a spreadsheet floating around (I may have it) where you put in your power out put at different RPM's long with your gear ratio. It tells you at what RPM you would be accelerating faster in the next gear vs the previous......you have to take into acount the time it takes to upshift and downshift too.

Wow, yeah i guess im really not feeling the entire effect of the cams yet. I really need to find a moates quarterhorse soon. I do have a dyno somewhat near me but i wont hit it for a while considering there is so much left to do.

After fixing a few things, my s2 cammed sho feels like it has power from 2500-7800. But then again, I'm not sure what a mostly stock motor, other than cammed sho (arguably mtx even) feels like.

Pretty much made my decision to buy a tuner before i even go to the strip. Just raising the limiter looks like ita going to make all the difference. So is it possible for a computer to allow the motor to turn 7500 factory? My 91 did and i have been thinking of swaping ecu'a just to see what happens. Will my x2j car run on a 91 ecu?

#1 No, all mtx sho's have a 7300 rpm limit stock.
#2 Your tach was off
#3 Yes, you can swap in the x2j.
