I been busting my ball sach all day. This morning the car had to subframe, motor, and tranny. Now she lives and breaths. Stated on the first try. I will upload to youtube later but the video is on my facebook.

Problem 1: cam seal. Probably not seated correctly and is just pouring out oil.

Problem 2: wont rev beyond 4500???? Is the ecu recalibrating or is the car in limp mode? Someone explain that to me.

On probem 2 I remember in wiring on the MPLS switch that computer has to read 400 ohms in drive. Maybe bad or you using a manual trans? Maurice

He says jump it another site say 400 ohms. Maurice

I'm pretty sure its an MTX. Does it rev like normal until 4500, or is it sluggish and that is as far as it will go....like its running out of power?

Either he didn't line up the cams properly or one of the sensors is malfunctioning. Cam seal is leaking so is it the one the camshaft position sensor is attached to? Is the crankshaft position sensor mounted and functioning? Best bet is to go back in and double check the cam timing and make sure they are positioned properly.

I've never encountered an issue where the car would not rev up to and past the redline.

The car reved perfect up to 4500 and then literally it was like a rev limiter. I got video ill try to upload later. The car does not miss. And im pretty sure the cam timing is 100$ ill do the cam seals when they come in and i guess go from there if still wont let me pass 4500

Same harness. Harnesses match. Motor ran fine with this harness

Go back and retrace what you did. Cam timing within the heads themselves or in relation to the crank. Somewhere something is not lined up properly. Pull the codes while you're at it.

So you think its a timing issue? Would the fact of having a atx intake cam core do it? Cause atx cams have 5 degrees advance in the ******. Right now the plans are to do cam seals, and then get It drivable. If the 4500 rpm thing continues ill investigate more.

Yeah you did something wrong on the install. The difference between the cams would effect the powerband but not the ability to rev and certainly not prevent it from reaching redline. Either the cams themselves are off or the crank timing is.

Just go back and rotate everything by hand and take a look at how everything is lining up. The cams have dots on the chain sprockets that line up. If that's all good, then look at the crank to cam timing. Make sure the cam timing sprockets are aligned correctly with the tang on the camshafts as well.

Again, pull the codes just to make sure all the sensors are functioning.

If it was doggish, running wrong at all RPM's and ran out of steam at 4500 then I would say it was a timing issue. From what I am understanding (and correct me if Im wrong) you are saying it revs and drives completely normal upto 4500 and then just hits a rev limiter type wall. If its the 2nd senerio then Im kinda at a loss. Do you have an LPM that could be loose? Is the PCM plugged in good and grounded?

The car does not drive, has no suspension under it. I aligned the white chain markers with the dots on the chain side and im pretty sure i got the crank side done correctly to. Once i do cam seals i will put the suspension under the car and see how it drives while moving.

Just started it up under curiousity and it revved all the way to redline! Timing is 100% correct. Just got to do cam seals and put a suspension under it and its ready for the track.

So much for the mythology of "cam break-in" time.
