How does one test the tensioner for possible replacement. The chain tensioner/cam chain make no noise and are not overly loose. If is isn't broken, don't mess with it, correct? thanks,

I have never replaced one, or looked at one real close for that matter. But from what I remember sometimes the plastic piece will get worn way down and needs to be replaced. Normally I guess they just get gunked up and stick, a good cleaning usually clears up this issue.
