Just got the car back from the Ford Dealer they said I need a new Cam position sensor and syncronizer. Can any one tell me how to do this my self? When I scanned the car I got a 214 code which is the CID not the cam sensor any ideas?

cam position sensor is relatively easy. Just two small bolts and a plug to pull it out. It is located in the back left corner right in front of where the ecu comes through the firewall

The CID is the cam sensor.. I think the ID stands for "identification" to tell the computer where the cam is.. That's why they call it the cam ID or CID.

Is this on an ATX or MTX?
The atx is easy to get out..
however, the mtx is a pain in the ****... especially the rear/bottom bolt.

I found a way to get the rear bolt out really easy.
Tools:
1/4 rachet.
a few 1/4 extensions, or one long one. (youll see why)
and a 5.5mm or 7/32 socket
Pics pretty much some it up.

It is an atx, do you know if there are any detailed instructions out there.

If its an ATX, its really easy. As you have more room because the motor is mounted farther forward.

What is the Syncronizer?

The ford dealer is telling me that the syncronizer is bad also. Does this have any thing to do with the Cam position sensor? If it does how do I replace it?

The only 'syncronizer' I can think of is a synchro in the manual transmission. Are you having problems getting it into one gear without it grinding? The quote for fixing that at a dealership would probably be over $1500.

Ask them to tell you exactly where this synchronizer is on your ATX car.
