Hello everybody,

I'm still trying to track down my low oil pressure issue and am looking for other possible causes. The rod and main bearings are new, as well as the oil pump. So I have moved on to the heads.
There are a few possibilities(please, correct me if I'm wrong), bad cam bearings, and bad cam chain tensioners. The reason I'm looking at the cam chain tensioners is because one of the cam chains broke (prior owner) and I don't know if the tensioner was replaced. I also heard somewhere that bad cam chain tensioners could cause low oil pressure.
How can you tell if the cam chain tensioners are on there way out?

Does any one have any ideas as to what else could be causing this? I have a digital oil press. gauge hooked up, and a stock oil press. light hooked up. The press. is reading 6 psi at idle(warmed up).

Thanks,
Efren

That's WAY low. Do you have the correct sender on there? ON my Monte Carlo, I had the wrong sender for my gauge & it gave me incorrect readings.

on the tensioner, you really shouldn't be able to hand-compress the tensioner. Also, you may be due for a replacement anyway, if the insulator between the tensioner post & the chain is worn away.

I bought the sender at the same time as the gauge(from summit). I used to have a needle type gauge on it, it was hard to read so I got the digital one :) But it said about the same thing.

I'm kinda fed up with this motor, if it isn't the tensioners I think I'll be looking for a 3.2 what are your thoughts? Do you think it would be worth it too keep trying to diagnose/fix this motor?

Thanks, Efren

Does the light on the cluster come on. Do you know the correct pressure (idle). Who's to say some aftermarket gauge is gonna give the correct info.
