I just got a 91 SHO, it had a tick in it that seemed to be the tensioner on one of the cam chains. On the way home it got louder and oil light started comeing on when the rpm's dropped and would die at times. It eventually something sounded as if it snapped and the car never fired again, it wouldn't even turn over.
Could the chain have broken and seized the engine? If all else fails this car will become a parts car.

Too many things going on to tell exactly what it is. You drove it on the way home from buying it or you had a awhile and drove it while it was ticking?

You could have broken a chain, that is easy enough to check by taking the valve covers off....That must have been some snapping noise. Any holes in the bottom of the oil pan?

No just bought it. It was ticking when I got it and when I test drove it. I got the car from sideSHO.
He said it was the tensioner so I decided to try and make it home, not a far drive.
Either way what I gave for it I can part it out and use some one my 93.

Sounds much worse then a chain tensioner. This time the cause of ticking can be caused from the lack of oil to the valve train. I would bet the lack of oil pressure caused a bearing to spin and seized the motor. I've seen an issue like this that contined use totally distroyed the crank. Can you say parts car?

What I was thinking. Parts car.
It has ALSFB's, white face gauges, and seats with no rips. All will work in my car.
I wander if the 91 MTX intake will work on my 93 ATX? hmm I need to search. The intake is powder coated white. White slicer wheels.

HMM........ :bonk:

The MTX intake probably doesn't have an EGR system unless it originated in Cali. Which won't make it eligible for your car.
