I met up with a shoforum member today, he looked over my engine and named a couple things I needed to do. The cable that opens up the secondaries is snapped, so they dont open. he told me to manually push on the "throttle" for the secondaies and tie it off so it is open. BUT it throws a code, so I dont want to keep it like that...this happen to any of you guys? anyway to fix that cable or rig something up to make it open and close?

Also i have been having a problem with shuttering. Its when I am driving regularly. I had my tranny fluid flushed, I added some Lucas tranny fix stuff..and it is still there..I read that it may be a coil pack or plugs. anything else?

Torinodan sounds sorta familiar... im not sure. So, when you tie the secondaries open, it throws a code? what code is it throwing?

I just stopped by autozone tonight, and they'll be opened tommorow. I'm thinking the code has nothing to do w/the secondaries, i think it's probably something to do w/the rattly cat you have

well the code appeared right as I tied open the secondaries and turned the car on. but it could be the cat, just a coincidence that it came on after I messed with the secondaries, but I will know tomorrow..

Unplug the IRMC. Sooner or later it will stop setting the code.

Wiring the secondaries open is a pretty normal thing done regularly to no harm at all. As Paul notes, the code tossed by this will vanish. You can force it away by a zero out of the system after it is unplugged by disconnecting the battery for a bit.

Some people have gone all the way to removing the butterflies controled by the IRMC and filling the resulting holes in the intake. It will give you additional air flow space and reduce induction turbulence, obviously, though if it actually improves performance has not been carefully tested, to my knowledge.

But the butterflies and the IRMC do nothing useful on the Gen III and can be safely deleted, with the only possible consequence it being a touch harder to start on very cold mornings.

thanks stephen..I went to auto zone..and the code indeed was irmc...so i went home, took off the plastic cover, and took off the motor to the irmc...started the car, and no check engine light "yet"...knock on wood. and as for the shuttering? i have no idea..they said it wasnt a coil pack because it would have thrown a code..so maybe spark plugs? or wires?

Coils won't necessarily set a code. Not usually until they die completely.

Try disconnecting another coil and driving around. This should then set a code for both of the coils, the bad one and the one disconnected.

At least that's what I've been told.

dead motor mounts dont help shutter either. have someone you trust stand on the brakes and do the engine rock test in drive and reverse. you do have a few other problems associated with all you mounts being worn in one way or another. oh, it was real good to meet up with you Matt. do the GA SHO have any places they gather on the weekends or something?

Not really anyone that frequents the forum , a lot of Doug's people meet somewhere, but we can always start one up if you like, there's a few Ga regulars on here now:thumb:
