im burning a little oil it seems to be coming from the passenger side. you can see the oil residue near the spark plug well on that side. i can also see a larger amount of residue on the side of the motor could it be leaking down from the intake?

it is not in the spark plug well as they were all replaced by the previous owner

The leaking you mentioned(on top of the valve cover) is probably the valve cover bolt seals. They are no longer available, so they were probably not replaced with the valve cover gaskets by the previous owner. That leak would have to be pretty bad to cause oil to drip onto the exhaust...burning it. The best way I know to fix this is to remove the valve cover bolts(and seals) one at a time, clean up the area and spread some gasket sealer on the bolt(near the top) and on the bottom of the seal...where it contacts the valve cover.

More likley, the oil that is being burned is coming from the cam seals. When they leak, oil runs right down the engine and drips on the exhaust.

You probably have a leaky oil cooler to block gasket also. This can be replaced fairly easily with the starter removed...you need a standard oil filter gasket and a 30mm socket.
