I agree - bigger brakes, new subframe bushings, control arm bushings and struts, etc. should be ahead of power adders.

thanks
I have already had new sub frame bushings(aluminum) installed along with all new suspension bushings and Earls stainless brake lines.
It`s good to see members get into the handling rather than the power.
after reading the posts,I`m thinking more along the lines of a y-pipe,and spend the rest on suspension/brakes.
I would REALLY like to have a faster car...but not at the expensie of not being able to keep it in control

y pipe is good, but don't rule out BBB"s as well they are cheap and these two things you will feel the most power out of...

best bangs for the buck

I'd also look into a flywheel, you will notice that difference as well.....

all t hese things give guranteed HP

Brakes and handling will really bring the most noticeable improvement for the money. If you really want to get hp/torque increases then some form of forced induction or major reworking of the motor needs to be done. That's alot more than 1k.

I see people saying Big Bore Butterflies. Honestly when I installed them I really didn't notice a difference in the butt dyno. However it sounded really cool!

BBB alone wont give u much, not to mention they need to go with a P&P or EH job to notice much.......gasket matchin wouldnt hurt eather

really no one single mod with a SHO with the exception of n2o and maaaaaaaaaaayb a y pipe, will give u much alone

its when u start addin others with that one that the gains grow :thumb:

Totally true. The only single mod I did that I noticed was the catless Y pipe, and I lost some of my low end grunt, that and I noticed the turbo alittle bit.

Every mod helps........

Which just proves that you need tuning of some sort to optimize most engine mods on a computer controlled engine.

UDP's are my x-mas present for myself.
When i get my stimulous check and xmas bonus, everything is getting fixed on the front end, as well as new tires.

I used this forum for several things I've done for my car. The area that has helped me the most is "sticky" section. Maybe if in the " How to " section, permenant stickies were made for things of this nature; then if someone wanted to, they could look up a sticky to find a answer/opinion, before asking.
My 2 cents

LOL I spent too much on Xmas presents. The y-pipe was my xmas present to the SHO until the water pump died, so I bought the SHO a WP/CPS/CPK etc. for stocking stuffers. Then I decided I needed to get myself something so I got the UDP as my gift to myself. Its a race to see if the UDP or other stuff gets here first.

The way I prioritized it is Maintenance first, then Handling, then Power. But I think it is good to mix it up. And if you have to do maintenance in a certain area why not add a mod at the same time. Hence the 60k/UDP on the front. When I can do the top 60k I will probably also change up the intake (BBB/EH Manifold/MAF/filter). And when the Y-pipe arrives I will do the rest too. I will do the suspension when I do the spindle upgrade, but save the brakes for later ($$$). The one thing I will avoid doing until necessary is the clutch, because if it aint broke don't fix it, and becuase when I do fix it I will do everything else concievable to the drivetrain for the power levels I will be seeking.

I have been finding it hard to balance work completed versus cost involved for most things I want to do, and obviously at some point I will reach the need to tune for the upgrades and spring for a twEECer. SHOForum has been the BEST resource, although SHOtimes is good too it sometimes lacks decent pics or a live person that knows the answer and can tell you.

Needless to say the Torino is feeling as neglected as Michael Vick's dogs.

You probably won't see 250 hp with that.... and you'll need more oil than that ;)

Buy now and the TwEECer will also come a one-time only high learning curve. That's right, you get to learn how and master the TwEECer solely off of your own hard work! I can't think of anything better to put in my stocking!

ACT NOW!
