My rear right window is broken in the down position.

I don't have the tools, time, or an extra window motor to rip it all apart and fix it right now.

Would anyone know how I can get it back into the up position in a hurry?
I have tried cleaning the contacts of the window switch, it's not that. I think the motor just burned out.

Any help soon would be greatly appreciated, since I just know that we will now have constant rain for the next few days even though it's not on the forcast!

Thanks.

Take off the door panel and pull back the insulation. The window motor is in the lower left of the door. Just hold the switch in the up position and HIWABFH (Hit It With A Big Fu..ing Hammer) The same thing happened to me...same window. Don't hit it too hard, kinda medium. Just tap omn it until the window starts to go up. You might need to "help" the window up a little.

It's more likely that the switch or a wire has faulted than the motor failing. Have you tried the local window switch in addition to the driver's door switch? If neither of these work then the problem is in a common portion of the circuit. It could be the power lead in the door jamb since it gets flexed every time the door is opened. You must first diagnose where the problem is before you can fix it. The door panel will probably have to come off. It's not that hard to do.

No, actually these motors after age tend to fail and have deadspots. It has happened on my SHO, my friends SHO, and my brother's SHO. Try tapping all around on the panel. Give it some hard wacks. If this does not do it, take off the panel and tap the motor just like speedy91 said. It will then go up. I have had to do this about 4 times now on my SHO. I'm too lazy to replace the motor.

Diameg,

See Buzzy's wireing diagrams for your model year.
Find the wires to the motor at the main switch (drivers door). You can apply battery voltage to the wires directly to the motor. The positive and negative connection will determine whether the window goes up, or down.

As an alternative you can pull the door panel, unplug the window motor, and apply direct battery voltage to the motor leads.

If the motor is stuck, as suggested above, tap on it while the battery is connected. The motor could have bad brushes, or the grease in the mechanism is dried up and sticking.

The one other possibility is that a rivet has broken and the window mechanism is jambed. Look for any broken or missing rivets if the above does not work. rangerj

hey mike.

Mine on my ATX is tempermental too....I have torn it apart and found that the motor is fine; however, what greg said is right.

If you need a motor, I am sure I can get you one for cheap, maybe free.

Marcel and I figure that is a short somewhere between the the switch in the door and the drivers switch.

had a problem just like this my window would only go down so u pull off the door panel get a wre with 2 bare ends find the ground on the back of the window switch and hold a wire there don't take it off. then tak the other end of the wire and move it around to all of the other connections till u find the right one that makes ur window go up and then make sure u disconnect that switch so a friend doesn't get in the car and put it down cause thn u have to do it all over aain (happened to me) then if you want to fix it you can get some of that elctrical stuff u spray in switch to make better connection that might work or buy another switch. i doubt its your motor.

Okay, thanks guys. I'll have to tear it apart and mess around with it.

I am losing all interest in this car. I just don't have time any more to tear into this, check out that, fix this, replace that.

I'm not saying that the car should be perfect all the time, I'm just saying I no longer have time for it. :(

Thanks Teg. I'll let you know.

I don't know if you got my email but if you want the parking brake release handle from my 90, it's yours.

Mike
