I just purchased a new (to me) 1994 SHO, and during the test drive before I purchased it, I did a walk around the car to ensure that everything worked, I had my girlfriend working the high beams, low beam, directions, etc. Well, everything worked when I was in front of the car, when i walked around to the back, she tried to use the hazards at the same time, while switching over to the left directional, and they no longer worked. Currently, if the brakes are applied, and a directional is on, the directional light in the rear will go out. When the directional is turned on, the front directional will turn on, but will not blink.

I was told it was probably the signal stat (a black cube with 3 prongs on it, located above the fuse box) but when I replaced that, the directionals still didn't work. Can anyone help me with this, wires has never been one of my favorite things, but I have checked every fuse, and everyone one is good.
Thanks in advance guys.

I was looking in the manual, and it says that the multi-function switch controls the turn signals/hazards/flash-to-pass/and dimmer. Is the dimmer high beams to low beams? because those work without a problem? If it is something else, I would like to know specifically what it is dimming....because I would like to make sure that is the problem by checking that, before I tear into the column.

Also, the manual says to ensure that the air bags are safe to work around you need to disconnect the negative terminal, then disconnect the positive terminal and wait for 2 mins. until the back up power supply is discharged.....I was told that the bags are always armed, is a battery disconnection really all you need to do?

Thanks

If the battery is disconnected and the system is drained of residual power then the bags are disarmed. You won't be dealing with anything anyway to get to the MFS.

If you go over to the Gen 1-2 sections there currently is a thread on the MFS. One a month anyway if you want to search and investigate some more.

someone said the switch can be fine if it is just cleaned and oiled with wd-40, is this correct, or am i incorrectly remembering a suggestion? Can you buy these switches at the store? or am i better off to try and buy it from someone who is parting out a vehicle online?
thanks again

SHOZ123, you were exactly correct, it was the MFS, I am sorry I posted this in the Gen III section, but I am sure the problem is the same for both generations. Your solution worked perfectly, with the exception of the contact cleaner, it helped, but I ended up scuffing the contect points with some 200 grit paper, then hitting everything with WD-40.
P.s. for anyone who was lost like me, petrolum grease is just white grease/lithium grease.
Thanks!
