Broken Oil Pan Bolt

Well leave it to me to break yet another part while working on the rod bearing job. So far everything else is going good, but when I went to torque down the bolts, one of the bolts broke off. I've been looking around, it seems that they're an M8x1.25mm pitch, 25mm length, but what I've got a problem is, getting the remaineder of the bolt out. About 2/3 of the thread of the bolt is still stuck up there, and I need a way to get it out. Should I drill and use an Easy Out? Or is there a better way of doing this. Thanks much for the help and support guys.

Id leave it there , if theres a good (not too muc) amount of rtv , its gonna hold. Leaksless.

If ever it leaks , your gonna see it on your parking , its never gonna empty in one shot , not to be worried.

So if it dont leak , you saved up a good amount of time and $ , if it does leak , at least you wont do it for nothing.

Thats what i would do.

It's been bloody awful. Bad weather mixed with broken parts and long wait times on replacements. Though nearly done now, just putting the Y-pipe back on, gonna crank the engine after the oils in and everything's up, then start 'er up.

You could probably get away with a bunch of rtv and leaving the bolt out. However I would use an easy out on it and replace it. The easy out kit itself should have a chart on what drill bit to use so figure out which easy out size you need and then get your ass to Lowes and grab a dewalt cobalt drill bit of that size. Use a sharp heavy punch to put a dimple in the stud, SLOWLY drill it on a low speed with a variable speed drill. You should be able to have the stud out in about a half hour.
