I own a 96 SHO with a broken engine. The front exhaust cam shaft broke or the sprocket wrong off. I read on v8SHO.com that this is a ongoing serious, expensive problem with gen III SHO Cars. To date some 52 cams have went bad. What is the experence with the SHO Group concerning the cams/sprockets and what were their solutions???

Well if you get to it before it breaks, you can weld the sprocket. There's a feeling that it's the tensioner that is causing too much stress on the sprocket, leading to spun cam sprockets. Once it goes, it's usually catastrophic. There have been lots of engine swap, and SHO Shop is working on cams, but they're not cheap. Sorry, but good luck!
