Broke Rod Shifter

Hey guys, has anyone else broke there rod shifter in my green 92. Was getting on the beltway here. Going from 2nd to 3rd and woops nothing. The shifter was really wopplely. I got her home and removed the shifter. Took the shifter box apart and discovered the rod came off the L bracket. It broke along the ring where it connects to the bracket. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen???

Yea, that was a funny feeling! The shifter was just flopping around in my hand. Took it to a muffler shop and had it rewelded. No problems since (2.5 years ago).

yup, happedn in my brothers 92, had to limp the car a couple blocks home in 3rd... had it re welded and it is sooo much stronger now

That is where mine is at now, getting welded back together. Glad I wasn't the only one to have this happen too. Yes it is a very weird feeling. I had to move the 92 off the street and had to crawl under the car to find first. When I moved it then, I tried to shift gears and hey no shifter DUH!!

Nope, none of my shifters were ever in your 92.

Yes, if you have broken motor mounts, its not uncommon to break the shift linkage or worse yet, rip the boss out of the transmission that the linkage attaches to.
