My first SHO was a black 1989. I bought it used in `91. I drove it for about a year and then sold it to a friend who drove it for a while and then let his mother drive it until she was not able to drive a stick shift anymore.
He put it in his garage sometime about 1994 still in a good running condition. He has never tried to start it since an attempt a few years ago which was unsuccessful because the battery wouldn't take a jump.

The other day he offered me the car. Just come and get it he says.
After not running for who knows how long, how much work do you think it will take to get it to run? It is still in great shape body and interior. Last I knew it had about 65,000 miles on it. Never had a 60K tune up.

Since my current SHO is a `95 ATX there isn't much I can use off this car. I may just part it out.

ummm.....no, dont do that. It is probably in just fine condition and needs some "lot rot" addressed, such as old gas, air in the tires, a new battery and some TLC. I had a 1984 corolla with 8k on it, sit unattended for years in grandmas garage....started it and drove it just fine.

Put a new battery in it and it should fire up. I would change/flush all the fluids (coolant, oil, ps, brake) - have the tires inspected, and it should drive fine. You might experience some oil leaks because the seals have dried out - but that is not anything major you can't address. The rear brakes might be a bit sticky..but other than that it shouldn't be problematic.

My brother bought a 1946 Dodge Power Wagon that sat in the oil field for 27years for $50. We ran a fuel line from the fuel pump to a gas can, changed the oil and filter. We next put on new spark plug wires and new plugs. Put in a 6 volt battery. Added air in the tires. It started up and drove it home. It smoked like crazy. I though we would never make the 5 mile trip home.

I called my friend today to get more info on the car. He said that all the oil has leaked out of it. (I assume it is engine oil). There are mice living in it somewhere. Another little detail he originally left out is that the trans is stuck in gear. So flat towing is no longer an option.
Gotta look for a trailer to get it home...
