OK.. I'm trying to diagnose my abs.. and per the ford manual, it says to check continuity between pins 27 and 60.... just what the **** is 60? Pins only go up to 55...

Anyone know whats going on with this here? I figured the breakout box was just a big jumper to make testing a little easier. Is 60 like a system ground maybe?

I'm getting code 33, 35, 36, 41, and 42.. can't get past the 33 code if I can't find pin 60

I did find that my front sensor should be between 800-1400 ohms... now I asked this question a while ago, and no one knew.. but let me rephrase the question... Anyone with a 96-99 SHO... what is the acceptable resistance values for a front ABS sensor. I'm getting about 1550 and think that is where my problem lies.

1.28-1.92 Kohms

greater than 100 mV

You can connect a voltmeter set to AC millivolts to the sensor output and ground, then spin the wheel. You will get a pulsing signal. The fronts have a higher voltage that the rears.

Perfect... I'm assuming that was for the 96-99, and makes perfect sence, as my reading was 1.5K. Well since I have a 92... I guess I have 2 extra ABS sensors for a gen 3 if anyone wants em.. :)

I took the sensors off a set of knuckles I stole the Caliper brakets off of. Sensors looked perfect, fit the hole, so I put em in. Guess it wasn't that easy after all.

Now if its only got a 2 pin connector... I guess I'd have to ''ring out'' the output, and use that pin on the multi connector, and say the ground for the ABS system itself to get the voltage?

Thanks a bunch! Goin to the bone yard now for a older sensor.. :)

I did all my testing for voltages at the ABS computer connector. This way the wiring is also checked.

Wouldn't you be able to wire, say, a 3Kohm resistor in parallel with the wires, that should net you a resistance of 1Kohm, which would be ok, right?

LoL hawk.. I was pondering such things on the way home from the junkyard, as it was too cold, and the car was sitting too low outside in the cold. :) Anyway, are you saying 2 resistors on each lead? I would imagine just one side.. but what does the sensor expect to see... so maybe it should be on the signal out side ? And... which wire is that.. lol

Well, there's two wires, right? if you assume that the sensor is just a big resistor that's at 1.5Kohms, if you wire another resistor (one lead at each wire, doesn't matter which way) across the leads, and it's 3Kohms, that will net you a total resistance of 1Kohm. I would do it by the connector inside the engine compartment. Much less vibration/guck/etc. if you use a 2.5Kohm resistor total R would be 800 Ohms.

Also, did you measure the sensor at a gap or at a ridge? I believe the resistance between the two would be different...

I've found a few times (probably useless for you) but if the abs sensor wire is rubbing on something, the light will come on until you move it and put it where it's supposed to be.

Really couldnt tell ya if it was on a ridge or not... I went to the j/y to see if I could get a few... I found them, but man it was just too cold to fight with it.. I gave up pretty quick.. :)

I wouldn't mind trying such a thing, but then again, I'd just as soon trade someone for a set off a 92 if they need a set for a 97.. lol we just got like 3 inches of snow tonight, so I wont be doing much today.. :)

The pins are numbered by position not necessarily consecutively. They may only be 55 pins but the position you are looking for is position 27 and position 60. On the breakout box you plug in the connector and then check for voltages at the numbered positions. Hope this helps.
