I've been having intermittent problems starting and shifting out of P, when I try to start the car sometimes I get a message on the dash about pressing the brake pedal when I already have the pedal pressed. The other day I had someone tell me that I didn't have brake lights when I was driving and I got a check engine light with a P0504 stored:

P0504(00)
Raw code: 050400
ECU: Engine control unit[Archive (inactive)]
Status: Confirmed, Test failed since last DTC clear
OBDII: Brake pedal position (BPP) switch A/B - correlation

Is this as simple as swapping in a new brake pedal switch? (simple... I'm 6'4" and 280#, I'm sure it will be a nightmare to just get my hands on it under the dash)

Is there anything else I should check?

Looks like Autozone has them in stock for $35...

Thats good. The brake switch looks like the only thing on that cel parameter when looking in to it. Most codes on the car from normal driving aint that easy to fix
