Got done doing my brake lines last weekend and feel relieved. A while back in my first Gen3, I had the line going to the right rear go out at 70mph, bearing off the highway to a stop light. What an awful feeling, I barely got it to stop in time to not run into the billboard on the opposite side of the street. I also found out its a pain to replace in an apartment complex parking lot with a car parked on each side.
I got it early this time and replaced 3 out of 4 lines going into the rear bias valve (left rear was fine). Just FYI for anyone looking to do it, Advanced Autoparts has 6ft PVC-coated steel brake lines that will reach from the bias valve all the way to the right-rear caliper. I also spray painted my lines with some hard appliance enamel paint, should help to keep them clean.
Anyone coat their lines with anything else to help prevent the corrosion carbunkles from growing?
