Ok here's whats happening, I just replaced the spoiler brake light with a light from a '93 SHO that's sittin in a Mississippi junkyard. It worked fine for about a week after being in there, however now whenever I turn off the car, the brake lights stay on. And when I turn the car back on, the brake lights still stay on, even though my foot isn't on the brake pedal. The also stay on if the car is in gear with no foot on the brake.

I've found that if I un-plug the batery the go out (duh) but, when I plug the battery back in, they remain off untill the car is started, and then the whole process starts over again. My mom thinks it's a short, but she is by no means mechanically inclined.

So, to the SHO gods, what the heck is causing this problem? And what can I do to fix it?

woops, wrong forum, I moved it to the suspension/brake forum

I had the same problem. It was my BOO switch(Brake On/Off switch). Mine melted. It's about $15 I think...

I know I'm resurrecting an old post, but I'm having the same problem now. Where is this switch located? I'd assume it's near/underneath the brake pedal, but can anyone tell me exactly where it is? Any pictures would be nice as well.

Thanks.

It will be more than halfway up the brake pedal where the pushrod for the brake booster hooks to it. On my car I had to take out a cotter pin, and it slid right off. You might need to become a contortionist to get to it, but once you see it you'll understand.

it's the only switch located behind the brake pedal...the brake pedal pushes it in whenever the brakes are applied...it's white w/a black switch IIRC....do something about it now b4 it decides to actually burn on you like mine did..TWICE.

I agree, you must be flexable to get to it.
I've replaced 2 or 3 on my 91.It's a $5 part I think.
I got so paranoid of NOT having brake lights I wired up a small light on my dash. When it lights I KNOW I have brake lights.
