The red parking brake light on my dash has illuminated twice for about 4-5 seconds. It has done this after I have jumped on the gas hard from a dead stop. Once the car settles it goes off. The brake fluid level is fine. What is goin on?

Loose parking brake pedal? The switch is on the pedal and if the pedal is loose it could be releasing the switch at times. There's only 2 things that turn on the Brake light - fluid level in the master cyl resevoir and the parking brake.

And you don't mean the ABS light, right?

I'm almost 100% sure its a loose pedal happened to me when my parking brake cable was starting to freeze up.

Check the ebrake and its sensor. If somehting gets stuck there it can set it off.

Well, I drove a rather long steep driveway tonight..and it flashed again...stayed on for a bit actually. So, I checked the MC on the hill - I am pretty sure it is the sensor on the MC cap that is setting off the light, because the fluid level was very very low on the incline. On flat ground the fluid level is about 1.5 inches below the "Max fill" line on the side of the MC.

My rear brake pads are almost nonexistant - which I am fixing this week along with installing speed bleeders and new front brake hoses. So, I guess the light is telling me to put fluid in it which will happen when I have the system all apart.

Then that light is telling you to change your brakes. With the pads being so worn down there is more fluid out in the system. Hence the light. Don't top it off til after you do the brake job or else you'll have it overflow outof the M/C.
