You have absolutely no context, as you have no clue of the conversations that Mike and I have, nor do you need help anyone with any previous context. The post was directed to provide him with an update, as he made some recommendations to me a while back with some other great people on this forum.

Not using Draggy, as I am using the dragstrip, as that is the only place I can get traction.

I said that, no context. It’s a forum, people outside your personal convos see the posts . No worries!

05/21/2021......

Alrighty, moving beyond the drama of the last 2 pages worth of nonsense.

The high power alternator from DC Power Engineering arrived at my door step just now.

Also, in anticipated preparation for the SHO to be towed / relocated out of / from my garage, and over to Max Power, I also purchased a brand new Motorcraft 850 battery, as well as two new front bumper mounts (thanks to my pal Mark over at Ford).

I also dropped off my upgraded sway bar from Whiteline, over to my local powder coater. He stripped it down, primed it properly, and then PC'd it in white.

Hoping to receive some updated pics from Max Power soon, of assembly of the motor, trans, and other ancillary parts as well. I know he's been super swamped, and he is also working on a few other fellow EcoBoost enthusiast's engines as well. So I am ok with the delays. My SHO's essentially a fun toy/spare car and it's not as necessary as other owner's to get it back up and running.

Small sacrifice for the over all good of others is completely and entirely acceptable.

Just wanted to post an update. Hope everyone's doing well and thank you for continuing to read/subscribe/etc.

Thanks a bunch Jordan.

I like it as well. I need to start balancing out all of the white already in play.

Hoping this alternator does all it's expected to and more. With nearly double the power output of the factory unit, fingers crossed it will supply all my audio system's power needs, as well as the larger Methanol pump, and all of the LED lighting to boot.

Had you given any thought to using lithium ion batteries for the stereo? I have not priced them for the application so I am not sure if it makes sense money wise.

I have not. Maybe down the road that'll be something I consider though. So I truly appreciate the suggestion.

Any product link that you believe will serve our platform would be greatly appreciated.

By me, and any others looking for same.

Thanks bunches.

White, under normal circumstances is probably not the best choice for a color for the undercarriage but in this application....considering the overall build quality and no need to be driving in rain or anything...it’ll probably stay clean

You can power hearing aids for a lot less weight and cost given your age ‍♂️. Love the alternator!

I’m definitely not an expert but something like what JY Pwr offers could potentially be a huge weight saving and would introduce less strain on the charging system as well as keeping your “traditional” battery for your other stuff.

I’m not sure I’ve ever said, wow that’s a nice alternator. It’s going to be a shame that they’re so buried you won’t be able to see it.

It's a shame there's so much that won't be readily, or easily viewable all throughout this build quite honestly.

Really is. But it'll be there, and that alone, is half the battle.

That's his new precious. Protect it, Caress it. My Precious
I'd rather protect, caress, and coddle you my friend.

Especially given all of your recent health challenges.

You of all people know 1st hand how many that are (or were) dear and close to me, have passed.

Hoping you continue to progress and succeed in your treatment and recovery.

Miss you tremendously pal.

I do automotive testing for a day job. We often have many added systems to cars (computers, sensors, audio/visual, etc). As such we often upgrade alternators and/or add auxiliary batteries. We were using AGM (usually Odyssey). However, they are very heavy (Taurus application calls for a 54lb battery). This became an issue with having to make hold downs that could restrain them in an accident, placement, changing CG (yes they are THAT precise in some of our testing), and strains/injuries from reaching extended distances to place or pick up the batteries. We have since switched over to Antigravity batteries. Our car calls for a Group 65. A Group 48 or Group 94R are very close (within 5/16" length and 5/8" width, ours being shorter but wider). The 94R battery will offer 80ah and 2000ca and only weighs 25.5lbs. As an added advantage, at $1200, your wallet will receive some weight reduction as well! We have used everything from these large form batteries on cars to the tiny 401 series (less than a pound 120ca) on moving dummies. We have been very happy with their life span. We are also very happy with the performance of the lithium format as it holds it's voltage until nearly dead instead of tapering off like a lead acid. This is extremely important when dealing with computers/sensors and input/output voltages.

Been using antigravity batteries for years in my Harleys. I use the Braille battery currently in the car though....and I freakin love it. Awesome cranking power, but I'm not sure how well Lithium batteries hold up to deep cycling, as a power-intensive stereo would need.

Granted I'm operating on old information since it's been a while since I've built a heavy duty audio system. But I am almost certain lithium batteries can handle deeper rates of discharge better then the standard lead acid cells. Lithium batteries are happy to charge and discharge without the "memory" issues the old Ni-cad batteries in things like cellphones and powertools used to have. They dont like to be full or empty, anywhere else in the middle, they are fine and deliver more consistent power for the whole charge.

That being said, when it comes to discharge speed for sudden draws of power I think lead acid performs better, but nothing you couldn't solve with a capacitor or two as a buffer.

What is the status on your car Mike? It's been 6 months since the last update.

Just waiting my turn to get time on the lift for assembly work at Max Power.

They recently moved to a new and bigger shop, and are getting that all set up.

I am hopeful for some movement on it, as it is becoming depressing just seeing the shell of it sitting in my garage, collecting dust.

Thank you for the inquiry.
