The code reader has power, I put a 9v in myself, has tone with the key off. When I turn it to the on position, nothing happens. No tone, no light...won't read off any codes. WHAT THE **** IS THE DEAL!?

Joe what kind of code reader do you have? Aren't there two switches? The on/off and hold/test.

Since you never confirmed that your CEL was working in you previous thread, go back to THAT issue and fix it. The code reader relys on all of the same circuitry as does the CEL so it cannot be expected that the code reader will work when the CEL does not.

Yeah, one like that.

Really, that sucks. I think I know what the problem is. But I want to be 100% sure. I would put all my money on the CPS. But, like I said, I wanna be sure. W

You really don't seem to have any luck whatsoever with these cars... :(

Have you considered buying something new or 1 or 2 year-old used with a warranty so you spend more time driving than you do troubleshooting? Maybe something inexpensive along the lines of a Kia, Suzuki, or Saturn.

FWIW, the most expensive code reader you can find is going to read the trouble codes the same way a free paperclip does. If the car refuses to spit out codes, you have either a wiring, PCM, or possibly a CCRM problem.

Joe,
A LPM should not affect you ability to check the codes. Do you want to try another computer?

Hey, I've had 4 SHOs and I've replaced the following on 4 of them: Brakes, Waterpumps(2), CPS(1), and various front end parts. Its all good. I have not gone crazy yet. The 92 is a great car, just needs a little help. The 89 is running great now. I'd go crazy w/Saturn, Suzi, or Kia(yuck)

Justin: I need someone who knows a lot about electrical stuff w/these cars. I wonder if my stepdad could help me out. I assume you have another computer...if I need it, what would you want for it? Is it easy to install...I have no electrical ability at all...I'd be lucky to wire a plug socket. LMK

That is the worst advice one sho owner can give another. Have you no heart?

I went out and played around w/car and...it seems to have fuel, but...sometimes if I prime the **** out of the pump, it kicks over, only to stall right out again. Same w/starting fluid. What would I have to pay a local SHO expert to come to my house and get this **** running again. I can't pull codes, its not the code reader cause I can pull codes off of my 89. I still think it could be my crank sensor, but I don't wanna do all that work just to end up at square 1 again. This is so frustrating... headbang
